A method of scoring where the winner is the player with the highest number of points. Players are given shots according to their handicap and awarded certain points based on their net score on a per hole basis.
It is important that an individual Stableford competition format is adopted by all participants in the BMW Golf Cup National Final.
Only amateur golfers over 21 years of age, with an official GA Handicap (via Golflink) are eligible to play in any section of this tournament. Players with social handicaps not registered via Golflink are ineligible for any section of this tournament. At Dealer pre-qualifying and qualifying tournaments, all players must be able to verify their current GA Handicap (via Golflink) prior to play commencing.
In the fortnight prior to the National Final, all qualifiers must present a letter from their current home golf Club which:
a) Details their category of membership of the Club and confirms that they are a financial member of their nominated golf Club;
b) Confirms their individual Golflink number, and
c) Certifies their current GA Handicap at the date of the letter, which must be within 14 days of registration at the National Final.
This letter must be sent to
BMW_Events@bmw.com.au.
If a player is not a member of a specific golf club, then a signed & witnessed Statutory Declaration addressing points b) & c) above must be provided. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the tournament.
Handicaps in the National Final shall be the lower of (a) the player’s current certified handicap at the time of registration at the National Final or (b) the certified handicap used in the qualifying tournament. In each qualifying tournament the Dealer, in collaboration with the club at which the tournament is played, must either ensure that the competition is processed through Golflink or return the originals of both the handicap and score cards to all players’ home clubs for re-handicapping immediately following the tournament.
Golfers are allocated a certain number of points on a hole depending on the net score of the player. The aim of Stableford is to accumulate the greatest number of points over the course of 18 holes.
Depending on a player’s handicap, a certain number of strokes are allocated on each hole.
The table of points is based on the net score of the individual player (after handicap adjustment) score as follows:
